There's a new Japanese film about Shibas. It is based on a true story about how a Shiba mom and her three puppies survived the 2004 earthquake in Yamakoshi Village. You can read about the original story here. The movie website is all in Japanese, so I don't understand it, but there are a few cute pictures.
I want to go see it!!! The puppies are so adorable!
You can see the movie trailer on You Tube here. Warning: It is sad. You might cry. I cried and I didn't think I would.

I cried when the little girl is crying out to Mari and Mari is chasing after the helicopter while it flies away. I usually don't cry when watching these kinds of things, but I guess owning a Shiba it kinda hits home. I would be devastated if I had to leave my Keiko!!! Their website is soooooooooooo adorable!!!! I hope this movie comes to Canada!!!
I would love to see this movie as well! I saw the preview for the movie and I started crying! I hope there would be a way to get the DVD when it comes out. Looks like such a sad but beautiful movie.
I really hoped that this movie will come to Singapore. It's such a touching movie! Reminded me of Hachiko!
I saw the movie. It is really sad! I cried like 5 times in the whole movie! It's different then the real story, but the story of Mari and her puppies is still the same. (Except that the puppies aren't newborn). This movie is now one of my favourites! (By the way, I live in Canada.)
Hey all, I watched the movie 3 times over. I really like the movie, and to all canine lovers out there, it's must watch movie. Very touching and very emotional too, yet satisfying. Amicably, tears did flow freely when I watched it time after time.
I saw the movie yesterday on the plane, coming back from Tokyo.
I found it hard not to cry. The movie is lovely just as the dogs we see.
This movie is amazing! I have a Shiba (red) named Bear and I agree with Yoshi - that having a Shiba in your life makes this movie 10x more touching. I cry everytime I watch it. (Aya crying as she was lifted into the helicopter gets me the most). The girl movie was brilliant and the story is amazing. After reading the real life story of Mari and her owner, it sent chills up my spine. Knowing that if something ever happened and Bear and my cat were left behind breaks my heart. I would recommend this movie to anyone - Shiba owner or not. Truly touching movie...and I hope that little girl was recognized for her great performance!
