Jujube has been shaking since yesterday. She's extremely clingy and she pants a lot. I'm terribly worried about her. And I can't ever take a break from worrying because she's always at my feet where ever I go. She even sat outside the shower door when I showered.
I took her to the vet this morning. She ate breakfast just fine. She didn't have a fever. Her heartbeat was fine and she wasn't in any pain. The vet asked about fireworks, but I honestly don't think it's any fear from fireworks. She's a pretty fearless dog. He also asked if she had any trouble jumping or squatting, as that might indicate a pulled muscle, but she didn't. The only other possibility is an averse reaction to Advantix, which I applied just a couple days ago. The doctor recommended that I bathe her to wash off the Advantix. I did that when we got home from the vet, but she hasn't gotten any better. So if it's not the Advantix, then what is it?
Poor Juju. I'm sorry, girl, I don't know what's wrong.

Oh no, hope she comes out of it soon. Maybe it takes time for the medicine to get out of her system?
My Shiba does this occasionally too. Exact same behavior as far as I can tell from your description.
It doesn't seem to be related to meds (frontline or heartguard) but it does seem to be related to stress (trips and moving). My vet gave him puppy sedatives and it seems to do the trick when he gets all spazzy stressed out.
My shiba does this too...it's when he's afraid of something (he's afraid of flys, for example). I give him some Rescue Remedy and it helps to calm him.
One of my shiba guys does exactly what you described. When he was small he was bomb proof, nothing bothered him but I'd say the last 3 years (hes 8 now) he often does the behavior you described, mostly due to sounds (buzzer on a tv show does it everytime, cell phone dying beep, the lawn tractor, and of course fireworks) It started suddenly - he wasnt afraid of those things before. I bet it will pass, but in the meantime I know how worried you must be. Cesar would say to ignore the behavior but its very hard, I've tried.
I had one of my Shibas have a very bad reaction once to Advantix and it scared the daylights out of me.
Now I use Frontline plus and split one dose between the two dogs.
my tsuki shiba does it when we turn the heat on in the winter... the whirring of the radiator freaks her out I guess. could be anything that juju is afraid of, even fireworks.
I've heard of dogs having a nervous reacting to advantix, and dogs even convulsing from stuff like promeris (usually if they lick it). So definitely don't rule that out.
Cody did this same thing last weekend. We were at my fiance's house with a ton of little kids and too much activity. He's fine with people, but towards the end of the afternoon we found him lying under a chair shaking and panting, he was practically vibrating. Some down time alone with him seemed to help, the next morning he was fine. So strange!
My dog, Whiskey, has been exactly the same! Except she's starting to whine a lot - even when I've already given her toys. Maybe it's the weather?
